A scary time in our world

Ya know, it’s really scary all that is going on right now with the man they have in custody from Colorado in connection with the terror plot on NY. You try so hard, or at least I do, to not be prejudice about people. But then you hear so much negativity on folks that are Muslim and how much they hate American’s, what they did to our country on 9/11/01, the pictures that were just sent to me about a Muslim display in London where people were holding signs that said things like “Behead those who insult Islam” “butcher those who mock Islam”, “Behead those who insult Islam”, Europe is the cancer Islam is the answer”, “Islam will dominate the world”, “freedom go to hell”. Things like that just really make you sick to your stomach. I guess they called it a 'Religion of Peace Demonstration.' That sure isn’t what I could call a peaceful religion.

Thinking about this makes me even more scared for the fact that they want to bring the terrorists being held at Guantanamo Bay into our country. Why would we let them into our country & put them into our jails? That is insane if you ask me! Seriously, let them stay over there...no need to have more America haters on our soil!

Deep thoughts...

OK, corny I know...but had me laughing inside as I was thinking about Stuart Smalley on Saturday night live & his "deep thoughts with Jack Handy" skit.

So, today I decided that my favorite color lately seems to be hot pink/fushia. It's been green for so long, but I realized how much pink & fushia I seem to be wearing lately & I just love it!

Today - it's Wednesday & I am so excited to get home from work! The new Tastefully Simple products are to arrive today as they were shipped out on Monday! Yippee...can't wait to see what's in the box! It feels a bit like Christmas!

People on my last nerve... I'm telling you this company sale & move to our new office can't happen fast enough! People seem to be very needy and dependent upon others. Why can't people carry a phone list with them & use it? Why do you need to call into the main line & ask me to transfer you to people? Another thing, can people not get on their laptop and look up a phone number. You're not driving, why can't you look it up? I can understand if you're driving - that's totally not safe & I'd really rather someone not die while driving b/c they are trying to figure out phone numbers...And another thing along this same line...Don't ask me to do something b.c you just "don't have enough time" and then within an hour or so send me an email of some commentary (that is long I must say) on the healthcare system. I DON'T CARE...I don't get some of that stuff & I don't care to spend my time reading a commentary on it that's for sure. I sit here & see CNN ALL DAY long! Chances are I'm pretty full of info on it! (Not really, I tend to turn the channel down as I'm so sick of it).

Funny thing just happened here at work!

So I'm sitting here at my desk, I now cover the phones up front & since the front of our office is all glass, I see people walking by all day long. I just saw an old friend from high school walk by! I was sitting here & totally thought this girl looked familiar. Next thing you know I'm up & out in the hall yelling "Brandy"? She was like yea, I said "from Oklahaoma"? Again she said yea & I was like it's me, Holly _______ (using my maiden name). SO strange! Anyways, she's up here visiting for the weekend with her husband! They just happened to be in our building going to see a friend that works in this same building! So weird! What a small world!

Pirate Party for a 4 year old

For my son's 4th birthday, I did a pirate themed friend birthday party. It was so much fun & I really found a lot of ideas on line! Thanks to Chicka and Jo for the great ideas I found to make his party invites! Check it out...
http://www.chicaandjo.com/2008/09/30/make-a-pirate-party-invitation/

Once I had the invites all done & sent out, it was time to get moving on everything else! My husband had made the coolest pirate ship and I was busing making cupcake toppers, buying things in red and black to use for decorating and some pirate decor, peanut butter sandwiches were cut out in the shapes of skull & crossbones...Party day arrived and the boys started arriving! Them it was a bit of a waiting game for the birthday boy to arrive! (He spent the night at my Mom's house with so I would have plenty of uninterrupted time to get ready for the party). Once he arrived, we wall went in & the boys got their bag of pirate garb to put on! Then it was outside where they chased each other (and Dad who was also dressed up like a pirate) around for a bit & just played in the pirate ship for about 10 minutes. Then it was time for the treasure hunt. Once they found the treasure chest, they found that the treasure was missing! Pirate Pete (pinata) had already beat them to it & now they had to get that treasure back! The boys had a great time with this and I will say that I have NEVER seen anything hold up so well! It seemed to take forever for that pinata to break! Then we went inside for the boys to decorate their treasure chests, had lunch & open gifts. By the time everyone left they were totally wiped out from all of the running! It was such a great party, I didn't even bother to get out the pirate bowling I'd found at the store!

BEWARE of the scam called Colon Cleanse 3000!

OK, so don't ask me what possessed me to fall for this weight loss idea called Colon Cleanse 3000! I did, I ordered the trial period deal online for just the cost of the shipping ($4.95) but they decided to charge me $127 and then told me that obviously I ordered it b/c otherwise they couldn't have taken the money from my account. I've filed a complaint with the better business bureau in Arizona, Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3), and I'm disputing the charge with my bank and trying to get my money back.

I've been on several other websites finding many others like me that have falled for this scam! I was told today at one point in talking wtih my bank that they change their name every other week. It's so strange, how is a company like this still out there?!
http://www.ripoffreport.com/Weightloss-Programs/Colon-Cleanse-3000-A/colon-cleanse-3000-acai-berr-9bcd5.htm
This person makes reference to some international charges which is funny b/c I too was wondering what those little charges were today & just figured out that they were from that company as well.
Here's another website with complaints:
http://www.complaintsboard.com/complaints/colon-cleanse-3000-c255066.html

Anyways, good luck if you have already been ripped off by this company and if not STAY AWAY from them!!

BEST Chocolate Chip cookie ever. Yes, I say that without a doubt!

For The Love of Cookies from Tastefully Simple - THE BEST COOKIE AROUND!

I just had a bite of a coworkers cookies her friend made last night. I gave it away after 1 bite b/c I was like I can't eat this. It's not as good as "my cookies". You have gotta buy a box & try for yourself! Great part about it too...Tastefully Simple donates $1 to Share Our Strength®, a national non-profit organization whose mission is to end childhood hunger in America.

Another great part about these cookies...the only ingredients: ¼ cup (½ stick) melted butter and 1 egg

ENJOY!

Oh, one more thing, I only leave mine in the oven for like 8-10 minutes as they get crisp quick! Nothing wrong with a crisp cookie though!

Digable Planets - Rebirth of Slick (Cool Like Dat)...what a great old song!

Was sent a very interesting blog this week...

“I pledge to be of service to Barack Obama”
By Michelle Malkin • September 2, 2009 01:05 PM

As if I needed any more evidence to bolster today’s column about the Obama junior lobbyist campaign in America’s schools, here’s another item fresh from the headlines in Utah:

A school principal has apologized for showing a video at an assembly that a politically conservative group leader is calling “radical, leftist propaganda.”

Children at Eagle Bay Elementary School in Farmington were shown a short video called “I pledge” on Aug. 28. The video opens with an image of President Barack Obama and part of a speech in which he says, “Let us summon a new spirit of patriotism, of responsibility where each of us resolves to pitch in and work harder and look after not only ourselves but each other.” The video then features celebrities making pledges about how they will help the president and the world — and that’s where some say the problem lies…

… Gayle Ruzicka, president of conservative Utah Eagle Forum, said the video was blatantly political. She said other offensive pledges included, “I pledge to be of service to Barack Obama,” “I pledge allegiance to the funk, to the united funk of funkadelica,” and pledges to not use plastic grocery bags and not flush the toilet after urinating.

“It’s very inappropriate to show a radical, leftist propaganda piece that political to children,” Ruzicka said. “If parents want their children to learn about those things and do them in the home, wonderful, fine, but it’s not the place of the school to show a one-sided propaganda piece to children without parents knowing about it.”

Cieslewicz said such values should be decided in the home, not at school.

BEST mushrooms EVER...seriously, you've gotta try these babies

So I found this recipe on Allrecipes.com & then I was craving them so I had to stop & grab mushrooms on my way home last night. I made these up & could not get over how incredibly good they were...SERIOUSLY - if you like mushrooms (of even if you think you don't) you have to try these! Super easy & super delicious!

INGREDIENTS
2 tablespoons butter
1 (8 ounce) package sliced white mushrooms
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 teaspoons soy sauce
ground black pepper to taste

DIRECTIONS
Melt the butter in skillet over medium heat; add the mushrooms; cook and stir until the mushrooms have softened and released their liquid, about 5 minutes. Stir in the garlic; continue to cook and stir for 1 minute. Pour in the soy sauce; cook the mushrooms in the soy sauce until the liquid has evaporated, about 4 minutes.

I pledge video on Facebook by Ashton Kutcher...SCARY!

SERIOUSLY? Someone emailed me a link to a blog that had this video. Shock...I really was in shock as I watched this. They talk about things that will be shown in school on this blog and I'm thinking you can't do that. You can't teach these kids things like this. This should be taught in the home. Politics I mean. I don't agree with Obama and I wouldn't want my kids being shown something like this anymore than Obama supporters would want their kids shown videos that are turned with these folks supporting a Republican president. Keep it out of the school...

Check out this blog I found though - really informative!
