Blaster - G Force

Love him! And Hurley...oh and the mice are another favorite in this movie! My son and I have been going around quoting this movie for the past few days!

Who are we to take their rights away?

Yep, I'm a Christian, but just b/c it's not right according to the Bible, why does that mean that Government should be able to rule to take the right away from someone to get married. Man to man, woman to woman or man to woman. Who's choice should it be? I say to each his own. It's not hurting you b/c your lesbian neighbors want to get married or your gay coworker. It's everyone's decision for themselves. Focus on your own marriage instead of worrying about others.

Trying to stay young!

So I see an article on our local news website today that peaked my curiousity - Mysterious fruits reverse aging, improve health. So I clicked on it.
Do you remember the last time you saw an old friend and were amazed to see how fast they have aged? The reason might be in their diet.
A team of nutritional researchers from southern California have completed a five year study that shows people who consume more antioxidants appear to age at a 47 percent slower rate than those who don't.
"Antioxidants slow the rate at which cells divide," says nutrition expert and director of Allmera Nutraceuticals Ron Slavick. "The faster your cells divide due to diet, stress or pollution, the faster you will age."
This is why Slavick has kept his team focused on a product called Proleva. Proleva is a capsule formulated by a team of scientists in Seattle Washington that you take once a day to give your body the extra antioxidants you need to restore your health, vitality and youthful appearance.
A single dose of Proleva contains the antioxidants found in eight of the most powerful superfruits, antioxidants that have been shown to increase eye sight, improve your immune system, support your cardiovascular health, boost short term memory, increase brain function and return the youthful glow to your skin and hair
After 2 to 3 months, nearly all Proleva customers report more energy, healthier-looking skin, deeper sleep, less sick time and better short-term memory. The reason is believed that their body is finally getting the antioxidants they need to balance the effects of poor diet, stress and pollution.
Dr. Laurence Meyerson, a professor at New York University School of Medicine, agrees. "It is likely that the components of Proleva's unique formulation may very well produce additive or even synergistic biological effects in the body." Meyerson says.
It is well known that people don't consume enough antioxidants. In fact a 2008 dietary survey shows that on average Americans receive less than 25% of their recommended antioxidants intake each day. This dietary shortcoming is a major contributor to poor health, lack of energy, weakened brain function and accelerated aging.
Wellness consultant Sonja Hawley agrees. "If you want to feel healthy and look younger, you must start by healing your body from the inside." Hawley continues "Proleva gives my clients the nutrients found in eight of the most powerful superfruits for less than a cup of coffee each day."
If you want to try this amazing product for yourself you can order a 10-day trial of Proleva online by visiting www.Proleva.com The company has advised that these free samples won't last long so order yours today, it only takes about 1 to 2 minutes to submit your address and billing information.

I thought why not see what foods are high in antioxidants though rather than getting sucked into another scam (as I did with the Colon Cleanse & Acaii Berry pills) and end up fighting charges with my bank and having to get a new debit card! So after I googled foods high in fiber, I wound up here:
http://vitamins-minerals.suite101.com/article.cfm/top_20_foods_high_in_antioxidants

There are numerous choices for antioxidant-rich foods, but which ones are really the best? The USDA tested over 100 foods from all categories and developed an authoritative list of the top 20:

Winter party ideas

OK really, why can't I be rich! I was looking around on the Family Fun website for some Valentine's Day ideas and came across this really cute snowman cake! How fun would that be to have a Winter Celebration party to help people get pumped back up about the winter weather!? By now most people are sick of the winter weather & just want it to be over with. Not me....in fact today I saw it snowing while a CNN reporter was somewhere & I wanted that snow to be falling here! Why can't we get another snowfall like we had at Christmas!? That was so gorgeous! I'm sure the hubster would cuss me if her heard me say that! He has to get out & plow in it! Anyways, here's a picture of the cake I just found:

A great resolution for the new year, 2010

I got this from a friend of mine & I think this is something that I will make part of my everyday this year in hopes of building a stronger, tighter family.

I am going to tell you this story I got out of this book I got for Christmas from a dear friend of mine. It is called, “Heavenly Humor for the Woman’s Soul.” It begins with a verse from Proverbs 14:1, “A woman’s family is held together by her wisdom, but it can be destroyed by her foolishness.” I had just got done telling my husband about a quote in the previous story that said, “Marriage is made in Heaven….but so is thunder and lightning.” He laughed harder at the second one, the verse from Proverbs. I was cracking up at the thunder joke and he was cracking up about the wife’s foolishness. Having to get away from him while he picks himself up off the ground, I immediately came to our room to type up this devotional on Friday night, December 31st 2009. It will be a new year in 4 hours. It is funny how life has changed. A decade ago, I would be getting ready to paint the town for the New Year. Right now, my 3 year old is repeating in my ear, “I wanna watch Dora, turn on Diego, mommy, mommy……! I hear my other two in their bedroom fighting over what DVD to watch. And, Shane, well he’s….who knows. Ha

The story is called, “Be the Glue” written by Michelle Adams.

“Remember the old television commercial for Super Glue featuring the construction worker? The man puts glue on the top of his hard hat and glues himself to a beam. Before the commercial is through, you see that worker holding on to his hat, his feet dangling beneath him, several feet off the ground.
Super Glue is really strong stuff. I have mistakenly glued my thumb and index finger together, and, wow, was it tough to separate them! Here’s my challenge to you today: Become like Super Glue for your family.
That may seem like a strange goal to you, but it’s a worthy one. You should have God so big on the inside of you that His beautiful love, gorgeous goodness, and attractive acceptance emanate from you onto your family-sticking them together. In today’s world, it’s tough to keep a family intact. Divorce, even in the Christian community, is at an all-time high. Children run away from home. Family members turn their backs on one another. Let’s face it: The Christian family is under attack. That’s why it is so important to become the glue in your family.
So how do you become the glue for your family? Live out the love of Jesus in your home. Let your family see your faith. Pray for each family member every single day. Speak peace over your household. Let God bond your family together with His Supreme love, and get ready to experience a beautiful home life. Pretty soon, others will ask how you “keep it all together.” They’ll want to know why your family is different. And you’ll be able to tell them about God’s love and His peace and His goodness. Your words will stick in their minds, and pretty soon they’ll be the glue for their families!
Sticking it out-especially when times are tough-is rare in today’s world. But as Christians, we should set the example for a beautiful, happy home life. So, be the glue today!”

Now, I can’t think of a better New Years Resolution than this! So, I have three more hours…..where’s Shane? Ha. Have a Blessed 2010, Love, Sheri

Sad to see another young and talented star go...

Was shocked to hear of Brittany Murphy's death. She really had a unique voice and humor to her in her movies. I thought she was hilarious with Ashton Kutcher in Just Married!

I was just reading someone writing about her and thought this really stood out:

Perhaps someone else might have something intelligent to say about this. For my part, I can only marvel at the miracle of movies, how they can make us care about total strangers, how they can preserve personalities across time and plant their faces in our minds, forever.

In the next few days, as you hear all the gossip that's bound to come out about this young actress, don't forget this about Brittany Murphy: Like every other screen actor, great and small, she gave herself to us. We didn't have to take it, but she gave it. And we really should revere that, because it's not a small thing.

http://blogs.chron.com/peep/2009/12/respecting_brittany_murphy_for_1.html This is where I got that from.

May you rest in peace Brittany and may your husband, family and friends hold onto you in their memories.

Christmas Projects

I made three really neat projects this Christmas! Two were inspired by things I saw on the internet (Thanks Lauren Meader for your creative photo tree idea) and to the many folks that I found with the fun cookie sheet advent calendar's! Even had a couple of other friends that followed & made those! The third project I bought a template on Etsy & made it up. That was the CHRISTmas tree & took me quite a while to finish as there was a lot of cutting out & little detail to complete that project. But, I'm very proud of all three & wanted to share them!

Early Dismissal

It is near the Christmas break of the school year. The students have turned in all their work and there is really nothing more to do. All the children are restless and the teacher decides to have an early dismissal.

Teacher: "Whoever answers the questions I ask, first and correctly can leave early today."

Little Johnny says to himself "Good, I want to get outta here. I'm smart and will answer the question."

Teacher: "Who said 'Four Score and Seven Years Ago'?"

Before Johnny can open his mouth, Susie says, "Abraham Lincoln."

Teacher: "That's right Susie, you can go home."

Johnny is mad that Susie answered the question first.

Teacher: "Who said 'I Have a Dream'?"

Before Johnny can open his mouth, Mary says, "Martin Luther King."

Teacher: "That's right Mary, you can go."

Johnny is even madder than before.

Teacher: "Who said 'Ask not, what your country can do for you'?".

Before Johnny can open his mouth, Nancy says, "John F. Kennedy.".

Teacher: "That's right Nancy, you may also leave."

Johnny is boiling mad that he has not been able to answer to any of
the questions.

When the teacher turns her back Johnny says, "I wish these bitches
would keep their mouths shut!"

The teacher turns around: "NOW WHO SAID THAT?"

Johnny: "TIGER WOODS. CAN I GO NOW?"

Have a Holly Jolly Christmas, It's the best time of the year...

Oh how I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Christmas season! The music, the lights - it's all just so pretty and so much fun! So many memories too of my Grandparents and just my family and childhood in general!

“I can hear Grandma singing this song” I said to Tanner as I put up the Christmas tree while we listened to Christmas music. “How”? he asked. I tried to explain that I meant I could hear her in my head, and then this really confused him! Ah, to be young again & not understand that not everything people say is meant literally.

I really would have to say that one of my most favorite things about this time of the year is the Christmas music. I love the way music can make you feel things. It can take you back to a certain place in time or it reminds you of certain people. Music to me is just as important as smells. Smells can do the same exact thing.

This morning as I was driving into work I was listening to my Christmas songs on my ipod & a song from one of my favorite older Christmas CD’s on. Of course we used to listen to it on cassette tape! Having just seen Christmas Vacation a few days ago, I was reminded of the family in the station wagon on their way out to get their Christmas tree when Clark and Ellen Griswold were singing Christmas Carols. It made me think of my Mom & Dad singing to these Amy Grant Christmas songs as I drove this morning. I wonder if someday Tanner will have those kinds of memories of me. The other day we were coming out of the basement & I started singing “Away In a manager” and Tanner told me “you have a pretty voice Mama”.  Makes ya smile when you hear their little voices say that.
