ABC's of being a help meet

While looking at an old friend's blog today, I found this. I thought this was great so am posting it to my blog as well.

And the LORD God said, "It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him." Genesis 2:18

Admit when you are wrong
Be positive
Cuddle
Do it his way
Encourage him
Fix his breakfast
Give back rubs
Hug often
"I love you" should be said many times daily
Joke around in a playful manner
Know his needs
Listen to him
Manage your home well
Never hold grudges
Open your eyes in the morning and smile
Pray for him
Quit nagging him
Reminisce about good times
Show respect and honor
Trust, and earn his trust
Understand his need for reverence
Vulnerability is a feminine trait; cultivate it
Wink at him!
X is for private times
Yearn to please him
Zealously guard him with your love

Reese's Pieces...

So I'm sitting here eating some Reese's Pieces & having flashes of the movie E.T., Strawberry Shortcake dolls, my rainbow t shirt, the rubik's cube, Punky Brewster...ah, they take me back to childhood!

Seriously, where is all of this snot coming from!?

OK, so you blow your nose again and again and again...then you've got "drainage" that is causing you to have a soar throat. Where is all of this snot coming from!? Yea, I know it sounds go gross - snot. Who came up with the word snot? I'm not sure though which word is worse snot or mucus. They both sound gross if you ask me!

We're all a little disfunctional!

OK, so I have decided that we all have some sort of disfunction in our families...somewhere! I don't care who you are. I recently got together with some old church friends from my Jr. High days. I remember always thinking they had these perfect families and really wished that I had that perfect family. Well, listening to everyone talking at dinner and about different feelings that they had growing up, or today and the disfunctional things that were within their families, it really made me feel good to know that I wasn't the only one with a crazy family! It's not that I had anything really bad in my family, just that as a preteen you think it's all the worst thing ever. You think you're the only one and that everyone else is so lucky & they come from these perfect families. It's not the case. We just don't necessarily share the crazy that happens behind closed doors and then we don't realize we are not alone.

Another thing, when you are that age you think that everything is the most important thing(s) or event(s) in your life & now I understand that really they are not. There is SO much more to life and those are just one chapter in your really big book! You will have more chapters than you even know. Some better than others, some easier to read (or get through) than others too, but all make us who we are today.

Love yourself and love the life you've been given!

A little AI talk...

So really think it's time for Lil to go on home...not impressed with her singing last night at all. I still think the final ones should end like this:

Lil
Allison
Anoop
Chris
Matt

Leaving Danny & Adam as the final two. I think of all of them, Adam has the shot as the biggest career. I don't know though, there seem to be many people who don't like his voice. Maybe Chris, Matt or Adam have the better chance for more people to listen to their music. I just know I'm ready to see Lil & Allison out of there!

Should be interesting to see who goes home tonight.

Addiction...

My name is Holly and I have an addiction to candy. It's not even 9:00 and I have just broke out a box of hot tamales!

Man, do I love candy! Those chewy Nerds, Orange Life Savers & Runts shaped like Easter Eggs have been my candy of choice/big weakness for the past month - month & a half I would say.

Favorite Candies: Chewy Nerds, Mike & Ike's, Nerds, Runts, Lemon Drops, Hot Tamales, Orange Life Savers, Skittles, M & M's (really depends on my mood if I want peanut or plain), Starbursts...Yea, I really like candy!! This has gotta have something to do with the fact that my son has a real sweet tooth as well!

Boys tennis shoes...

OK, so last fall I was at Kohls debating whether to spend the $20 on a pair of Nike's or head back to Target for the $10 shoes. Which would last longer & wear better for the money. TOTALLY worth $10 extra bucks for the Nike's! The Target shoes have been worn WAY less than his Nike's & do not hold up worth a darn! His Sketcher's (the navy ones) are even older & holding it great too! He got those last Sept & both white Tennis Shoes in probably Oct? I didn't pull out the new Target ones for probably a month or month & a half after we started wearing the Nike's too so they've had even less time on his feet!

Bottom line - spend more on boys shoes as the better shoe holds up longer!

How about a cupcake?

Another fun April Fools Day "treat" from Family Fun! Meatloaf cupcakes & mashed potato frosting! Yum...

A little April Fools Day fun!

Sushi anyone? I got the idea from Family Fun magazine (website) and made these up for Tanner to take to school today & share with his friends. Really excited about how cute they came out & they were really easy! used a 12 x 17 pan & 2 "logs" made just over 20. Used 4 fruit roll tape things. (You know, the long ones? Can not think of what they are called right now)!
